Cannon-Dozier Project

The Cannon‑Dozier Project is an international program focused on alcohol education and awareness. Its core message is that understanding the risks associated with alcohol use is essential for managing them responsibly. The Project was named after Brothers Adrian Cannon (Delta State University) and Julius Dozier (University of Mississippi) who were killed by drunk drivers.

The Cannon-Dozier Project aims to equip participants with essential knowledge about alcohol, including:

  • Key statistics related to alcohol use.
  • Research on alcohol consumption among college students.
  • Legal guidelines and restrictions surrounding alcohol use.
  • Facts about how alcohol affects the body.
  • Information on alcoholism, with emphasis on its impact on college students.
  • Understanding the progression of alcoholism and pathways to recovery.

The Cannon-Dozier Project seeks to reduce Regional and National alcohol related deaths by:

  • Implementing the program across at least 90% of all chapters each year.
  • Building and sustaining collaborative relationships between Alpha Phi Alpha and other regional and national alcohol education and awareness organizations.
